Teaching Quality Assurance
In Italy, Quality Assurance (QA) in universities refers to the set of procedures, activities, and tools aimed at ensuring and continuously improving the quality of teaching, research, and the third mission (i.e., the relationship between the university and society). It is a mandatory system established by national regulations and coordinated primarily by ANVUR (National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes).
The main objectives of Quality Assurance are:
- Ensure that study programmes and research activities meet minimum quality standards.
- Continuously improve internal processes through monitoring, evaluation, and improvement plans.
- Promote transparency and accountability of universities towards students, the state, and society.
- Foster a culture of evaluation within academic institutions.
