Description
Rooted in the expertise of faculty actively engaged in cultural diplomacy and international scientific collaborations, the Master’s Programme in Public and Cultural Diplomacy brings together students from a wide range of academic backgrounds – from the social sciences to the humanities – to explore new approaches to international relations and cooperation.
At the heart of the programme lie two central themes: cultural diplomacy and public diplomacy. Students are trained to understand and navigate how culture, politics, and international collaborations interact in today’s complex world.
The curriculum draws on multiple disciplines – history, political science, cultural heritage (with a focus on the Mediterranean), geography, economic development, and international law. This interdisciplinary foundation offers students a dual experience:
- Academic and analytical training from leading experts in public diplomacy and conflict resolution.
- Professional and practical experience through opportunities in international cultural institutions.
The programme places a strong emphasis on international studies while offering a perspective that sets it apart from existing programmes. Innovation runs through the structure of the programme. Courses are designed specifically for this degree, enriched by international partnerships, fieldwork, and organizational training. Students will explore the evolving roles of public and cultural diplomacy in areas such as: International cooperation and cultural planning, Global cultural dissemination, Strategic communication in cultural affairs, Conflict resolution and mediation, Cultural policy design, and Scientific journalism.
Special attention is devoted to hands-on learning, including fieldwork and seminars that build practical skills, culminating in a final project that integrates theory and practice.
The entire programme is taught in English and prepares graduates to play active roles in shaping cultural and diplomatic initiatives on the international stage.
